Change to SpeedChart/SpeedType Process

Effective Monday, December 12, 2011, authorized users will have the ability to add, modify and delete SpeedTypes.  You can request access to manage SpeedCharts/SpeedTypes through SARA.

BFS users who currently have access rights to manage SpeedCharts will be given the ability to manage SpeedTypes in addition to their ability to add, update and inactivate SpeedCharts.  No action is required by existing users for this expanded functionality.

This change is necessary for the implementation of BearBuy which will use SpeedTypes rather than SpeedCharts.  The current SpeedChart to SpeedType conversion requires an overnight process before the SpeedType is available for use.  This change streamlines the process, permitting direct and immediate access to add, modify, and delete SpeedTypes.

The overnight SpeedChart to SpeedType conversion process will be discontinued after it runs on December 9, 2011. Effective December 12, 2011, if there is a departmental need for identical SpeedCharts and SpeedTypes, users will be responsible for updating each value in BFS.
