Increase in Airline Phishing e-mails; Suspicious e-mail from American Airlines
12/15/2011
Travelers and travel arrangers have reported an increase in airline phishing e-mails received over the last few weeks (which usually spike during the holiday season). The latest e-mails claim purchases of American Airlines airfare and that a credit card has been charged and/or an invoice or receipt is attached to the e-mail.
If you receive one of these e-mails, DO NOT OPEN the attachment as it may contain potentially dangerous viruses or harm your computer. Other recent e-mail phishing has targeted Delta Airlines business.
