BAIRS: Hyperion 9.3 Upgrade Implementation
lineorang.gif (858 bytes)

This page gives you easy access to information about the implementation of Hyperion 9.3 for the Berkeley Reporting Portal (beta).

Note: If you wish to participate in the beta, please email bairs@berkeley.edu for important information.

What You Need to Know to Use the New Portal

You will need a valid CalNet ID and passphrase to login to the portal.  If you do not have access to BAIRS, you will need to request access via SARA.

What browsers are supported?

PC users:  Internet Explorer 6 & 7, Firefox 2.0.

Mac users:  Firefox 2.0 for running reports with the HTML client.  MAC users running reports using the Interactive Reporting Web client will need to go through Remote Desktop Connection (RDC).  Click here for RDC information.

What's different?

Two report formats are available.  The HTML format does not require users to install a plug-in.  Users can run a report upon logging in using the HTML format.  The Interactive Reporting Web Client format requires installation of the plug-in.  In this format, reports have the same features and functions as reports run in Hyperion v8.2.

The Hyperion workspace has two primary sections: your Personal Page (where you organize reports you use frequently for easy access) and Explore (where you will find all the reports to which you have access).  You place content (i.e. reports) on your Personal Page that you want to access easily (similar to subscriptions in Hyperion v8.2). You can add them to your Personal Page as either Bookmarks or Favorites. We recommend that you make individual reports Bookmarks and use Favorites for report folders.

HTML vs. Interactive Reporting Web Client

While the HTML format can be used upon rollout without installing a plug-in, the features and functions are much different than the Interactive Reporting Web Client.  Job Aids, Quick Reference Guides, UPKs, and Manuals are available for the most commonly used features of HTML reports (see links above). It is not recommended that you run large data sets in the HTML format if you are planning to go behind the Main Page, but for printing to PDF and saving it should be fine.

If you are a PC user and decide to use the Interactive Reporting Web Client, follow the installation instructions as noted above for the browser you choose to use.  If you are a MAC user and choose not to run the HTML reports, you will need to access the Remote Desktop Connection, which replaces Citrix.
